Nava Diganta Home

Even after moving into our new Home we felt that the older children being referred to us were staying in a closed space. Suddenly, we were handed over a group of 30 children by the order of the then Director of Social Welfare and we sought urgent extra space. Mrs. Sood spoke to Smt Ashoka Gupta and a small room was allotted to us within the premises of the Mahila Seva Samity at Rajpur. However, the urge to provide better services, counselling and an all-round development prompted us again to look for bigger premises. In the year 2007, we purchased a a property in Rajpur where we built our Home for older children. Located some 20 kms away from the city, we called this home – “Nava Diganta”, translated this means New Horizons.

This Home now works as a Child Care Institute (CCI) for girls. Nava Diganta Home is also registered under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection Of Children) Act. All children received in the Home is under order of the Child Welfare Committees of West Bengal. Residents of Nava Diganta receive counselling, education at local schools and training in vocational training. Our dedicated team of staff at Nava Diganta are professionals who are create a specific care plan for the child to help her in the way best suited for her benefit. Creative crafts are encouraged and self-improvement skills are discussed and shared to help the children.
