The Indian Society for Sponsorship and Adoption, known as ISSA, was founded on the 16th of December 1975 by seven-like minded individuals. It was registered under the West Bengal Societies Registration Act 1961 with Registration Number S/17005 of 1975/76. The Society was formed to help all child in the need of care and protection towards a better future.
We are committed to the rights of the child to a name, to a family, to protection, to basic nutrition and health and education among others. For the last four decades we have worked tirelessly towards these aims and provide the best possible care and protection for the children entrusted under our care.
Under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act we are running Homes. A Specialized Adoption Agency (SAA) registered under the Act by the Department of Women and Child Development and Social Welfare, Government of West Bengal. We are also holding a perpetual Recognition from the Central Adoption Resource Authority, Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India.
Since 1989, we are running community programmes in the form of free creches for the children of working mothers of marginalized communities. These centres also provide free coaching for older children.
