The Indian Society for Sponsorship and Adoption started Nava Jyoti Nilgunj free Creche and Coaching Class for the children of working mother of the locality at Vill- Selarhat, P.O. Nilgunj, P.S. Duttapukur, North 24 Parganas in July, 1993. It was a rented house with one room, one verandah and stair to go to the roof. We had 30 children and operated from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. ISSA provided breakfast, lunch and afternoon tiffin for the children and staff of Nava Jyoti Creche. Children were taken care by two creche mother and a co-ordinator. When the first batch left the creche to join school, coaching classes were started. They were taught by a teacher in a group class and were given a light tiffin. The creche children had a dance teacher and the children also had medical facilities where they were checked by a local paediatrician.
This centre was extremely popular in the locality and there was a waiting list of children wanting to join the creche. We increased the space by building another floor and we soon accommodated 2 units. Children were admitted into the free creche after a careful survey in the locality.
Initially the project was sponsored by Adoptions Forum, Norway. However, currently an older adoptee, Ms. Maria Mithoo Figenschow, adopted from us to Norway has raised money and sponsors the project currently.

Afroj Khan admitted to Nilgunj School from Nava Jyoti Creche in the year 1996. He passed Higher Secondary and learned computer hardwire. Presently he is an employee of a private company.
Gopal Das admitted to Nilgunj Scool from Nava Jyoti Creche in the year 2000 and presently he is working at Airport Authority of India as a Computer Engineer.
Susmita Biswas admitted to Nilgunj School in the year 2001 and passed B.A. Presently she is a West Bengal Police.
Diparna Gupta admitted to Nilgunj School in the year 2002. She has passed BSc Honours and completed her Computer Application Course. Presently she is a computer teacher of Nilgunj School.
Sourav Biswas admitted to Nilgunj School in the year 2003. He has passed B.A. Presently he is working at West Bengal Police.
Joydev Dey admitted to Nilgunj School in the year 2004. He has passed Higher Secondary Examination. He has joined Godrej Company after he completed his Electronic training.
Abhijit Dey admitted to Nilgunj School in the year 2004. He has passed B.A. He has joined Godrej Company after he completed his Electronic Training.
Ariba Khanam admitted to Nilgunj School in the year 2006. She has passed B.A. Honours in English. She is a teacher of Nava Jyoti Nilgunj Coaching Class. She is also taking preparation to sit for the WBCS Examination.
Riya Khatun admitted to Nilgunj School in the year 2006. She has passed B.A. She is a teacher of Nava Jyoti Nilgunj Coaching Class.
Dhiman Biswas admitted to school in the year 2009. He passed Higher Secondary and got a job in Dubai.
